Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair made a brief appearance in Southwest Florida speaking at a private conference in North Naples.
Blair, who was the prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1997 to 2007, spoke at the Global Financial Leadership Conference at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort. The three-day conference is being held by the CME Group Inc., the world’s largest futures exchange.
Blair spoke about globalization and the world economy, said CME spokeswoman Anita Liskey. His speech was followed by a question and answer session, according to a conference program.
Other speakers at the conference included Paul Volcker, former chairman of the Federal Reserve, CNBC business anchor Maria Bartiromo, and officials from the Bank of England, the Brazilian Central Bank and the Bank of Canada.
