If you read and believe the recent national and local press articles on the property market slow down and own property, by now you may be panicking into selling it or if your looking to buy, you may be worried that you missed the boat as the interest rates are steadily increasing beyond reach. (Dependant on which article, paper or which web site your currently viewing.)
Something to always remember of course with any article you read is reporting the same news is not interesting, reporting new "news" or trends is interesting and "artistic license" to increase or stretch the issues, (sometimes to extremes) helps to increase the interest and circulation.
So should we all be panicking? I think not.
According to the National Association of Realtor, 2005 will be a 5th record year for property sales which is not a surprise to most people. However, for those of us without a crystal ball, their prediction on 2006 is that while the sales will slow down as all the reports and indicators suggest, the predicted slowdown of around 3.7% still means 6.84 million in actual resales.
More important is that it means that 2006 would still be the second best year since accurate records have been kept!
While other NAR stats and article have been referred to in the press, I bet you will not find many press headlines like "NAR EXPECTS 2006 TO BE 2nd HIGHEST SALE YEAR ON RECORD" in local or national press.
Interesting and also, very comforting for anyone owning, buying or reselling property.
Read the full NAR article for additional information.
